Slate is a fine-grained, foliated, homogeneous metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low-grade regional metamorphism. It is the finest grained foliated metamorphic rock.
Slate retains its texture in individual layers when sliced the help of specialized cutting tools, making it a perfect option for using as thin and front resistant tiles.
Slate tiles are often used for interiors and exteriors, flooring or wall cladding. Tile are installed and set on mortar and grouted along the edges.
